Newly signed running back Myles Gaskin eager for opportunity with Vikings

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 08:45:02 GMT

Myles Gaskin is absolutely terrified of flying, so naturally, getting from Florida to Minnesota amid Hurricane Idalia wasn’t ideal for him.“All that turbulence had me stressed out,” said Gaskin, who signed with the Vikings this week after being cut by the Miami Dolphins. “I sweating like crazy next to a stranger.”Fortunately for the 26-year-old running back, he touched down safely on Wednesday night after only a minor delay, and he was on the field at TCO Performance Center on Thursday afternoon.“I was worried about getting here,” Gaskin said. “I’m glad I made it.”The next step for Gaskin is learning the playbook as quickly as possible. He was brought in to compete with Ty Chandler for the role as the primary backup to Alexander Mattison this season. The fact that Gaskin already has a few seasons under his belt in the NFL could go a long way in that competition.“Just study up,” Gaskin said. “I know everybo...

Broncos Journal: Five Denver players to consider in fantasy football

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 08:45:02 GMT

Football season is here. More importantly, fantasy football is back in action. This is the time of year when fans become general managers. Friendships are tested. And a matchup between the Washington Commanders and Atlanta Falcons will matter to someone in North Dakota. The Broncos don’t have players like Justin Jefferson, Patrick Mahomes or rookie Bijan Robinson, who some might consider drafting in the early rounds. But some players can be impactful. Here are five Broncos players to consider during the fantasy football season.Broncos’ defenseThis is obvious. Denver’s defense was solid in 2022, finishing 10th in DVOA, according to Football Outsiders, despite dealing with a handful of injuries. In 2023, they have everything in place to be a top-10 defense in the league once again. Pat Surtain II is one of the best cornerbacks in the league. Safety Justin Simmons has 16 interceptions in the last three seasons. Defensive end Zach Allen looked like a beast during training camp.Denver’s pass...

Dodgers' historic August could be a sign of things to come

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 08:45:02 GMT

You don’t win a World Series in the Summer, but the Los Angeles Dodgers’ dominance in August has many fans believing that this team has what it takes to be World Series-bound. The Dodgers posted a 24-5 record in the month of August, the most wins in a month since the franchise moved to Los Angeles. But will a month-long hot streak in the Summer translate to a World Series Title in the fall? Based on the Dodgers’ recent past, fans have a right to be concerned. This is the fourth straight season that the Dodgers have won 20-plus games in August. It is also the fourth straight August where the Dodgers have a win percentage over .750.  The Boys in Blue are just the second team in Major League Baseball history to post a .750+ winning percentage in the same month four years in a row. The last team to accomplish that feat: the Chicago White Stockings (now known as the Chicago Cubs), in June from 1878-1881.  Adding up the Dodgers’ August win totals from 2020-2023, they h...
