Theater review: Theater Latte Da stages a compassionately crafted ‘Next to Normal’ as Rothstein’s farewell

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 09:25:02 GMT

Among the epiphanies visited upon humanity during the pandemic has been the recognition that mental health is an issue for all of us. With lives universally turned upside down, the collective conclusion has been that psyches will need help getting back to “normal.”Which makes the 2008 musical, “Next to Normal,” a timely choice to close the 25th season of Minneapolis musical theater purveyors Theater Latte Da. Not only is every detail attentively shaped and imaginatively presented, but each character is created with compassion as the key sculpting tool. ...
